An assistant director with the Taubenslag Theater Company in North Brunswick, New Jersey, Joel Chesler organizes and oversees the daily activities of counselors and campers for an annual summer theater camp that operates on the campus of Middlesex County College. He has also managed backstage operations during performances and worked the ticket both for weekly shows. Joel Chesler has helped lead Taubenslag for the past two decades.
Until 2018, Joel Chesler concurrently served as a social studies classroom instructor with the North Brunswick Township Board of Education. In addition to teaching American history, politics, and AP government, he was a faculty advisor to multiple extracurricular clubs and coached both the softball and swim teams. Mr. Chesler’s achievements as an educator garnered him a “Teacher Who Makes Magic” designation from WMGQ Radio in 2015 and both a Governor’s Teacher of the Year Award and a Student Government Teacher of the Year Award in 2014.
